Spooky Activities for the Fall

oneilleri

Happy Fall, y'all! The temperature is dropping, the leaves are falling, and Halloween is just around the corner. For this month's blog post, I'll be sharing some activities in Boston that are a MUST for the fall time:

1. Ghost and Gravestones Tour

The Ghost and Gravestones tour is a 1.5-hour tour of some of Boston’s best "haunted" sights and their history! Some notable highlights include visiting two of Boston’s most infamously haunted burial grounds and the graves of some of Boston’s famous historical figures, such as Samuel Adams and Paul Revere. One of the best aspects of the tour is the guides who dress up in spooky period-appropriate costumes!

2. Salem

Want to visit the site of the infamous Hocus Pocus house? Then, Salem is the place for you! Home to the Salem Witch Trials, the city is incredibly rich in history. Visitors can visit The Witch House at Salem, one of the last remaining historic buildings from the 1692 trials. If history isn't your thing, Salem also offers other Halloween-related activities, food, and gorgeous fall foliage. Don't forget to check out the House of the Seven Gables (the 17th-century mansion!)

3. Head of the Charles

During the third week of October, Boston is home to the Head of the Charles Regatta. It's the world's biggest 3-day rowing event, with more than eleven thousand elite athletes competing. There are six bridges along the Charles River where spectators can watch the race. The most popular bridges are the Eliot Bridge (towards the end of the course and near Northeastern's Henderson Boathouse) and the BU Bridge. This is an excellent opportunity to get outside and enjoy the fall weather while cheering on the participants as they compete for victory.

4. Apple picking at Honey Pot Hill Orchards & Pakeen Farm's pumpkin patch

Honey Pot Hill Orchards is about a 45-minute drive out of the city and is the perfect opportunity to pick apples, visit the farm animals, take a hayride, and do all the fun fall farm things in just one autumn afternoon!

Known for its cider and donuts and, of course, pumpkins, Pakeen Farm is a 35-minute drive from Boston and is also an essential fall activity! Plus, the fun doesn't end there. After picking out a pumpkin, one of my favorite fall activities is pumpkin carving!

Until next time,
